Reduce Pollution and Go Green with Tri-Rail

Millions of South Florida residents ride the Tri-Rail to work and school daily. Just ask Steve Gara. In May of 2009, Steve posted an excellent article on The Examiner.  This is a powerful article entitled:

Reducing Tri Rail service is not a good option – just ask the 4 Million folks that ride it

This article features many important Tri-Rail facts including the fact that our environment benefits from public transportation. Tri-Rail’s “Go Green and Save” Campaign was launched just a few weeks ago and encourages South Floridians to utilize public transportation to save money (up to $8,000 a year!) as well as help our environment.

Steve writes: “The fact is here in Florida we drive too much and therefore pollute too much. More emphasis needs to be placed on car pooling, rails, telecommuting and alternative modes of transport. Plain and simple other states and countries do it and it works for them and so it will work for us, there is no time left to oppose the inevitable, let’s suck up the complaining and start working on solutions to move our state and country forward and not backwards.” – Read More

South Florida Web Analytics with PeakMetrics

Search Engine Optimization and Web Marketing can be totally useless without the help of Web Analytics. You want to make sure that your efforts are maximizing  your results with comprehensive reporting tools that measure a variety of performance factors, including cost and return per keyword, cost and return per search engine, pay-per-click metrics, natural search results analysis, and more.

Web analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of internet data for purposes of understanding and enhancing and maximizing web usage. There are two forms of web analytics: Off-site analytics and on-site analytics.

Off-site web analytics refers to web measurement and analysis irrespective of whether you own or maintain a website. It includes the measurement of a website’s:

1. potential audience (opportunity)

2. share of voice (visibility)

3. buzz (comments)

that is happening on the Internet as a whole.

On-site web analytics measure a visitor’s journey once they have clicked onto your website. This includes its drivers and conversions (which landing pages encourage people to make a purchase.) On-site web analytics measures the performance of your website in a commercial context. This data is typically compared against key performance indicators for performance, and used to improve a web site or marketing campaign’s audience response.

Web Analytics generate information that helps guide you in the right direction to attract more visitors and revenue.

Biodiesel Fueled Tri-Rail and Go Green and Save Program!

Going Green is easy in South Florida with the Tri-Rail’s “Go Green and Save!” campaign. This eco-friendly campaign encourages South Floridians to leave their cars at home and save time and money while riders relax on their daily commute to work or school.

Biodiesel consists of either palm or soy oil, which is considerably more expensive, however Tri-Rail acknowledges the benefits. These benefits to using biodiesel fuel in lieu of diesel fuel are low emissions, comparable power and efficiency, capability of being mixed with diesel fuel without modification, and safer storage and transport. Biodiesel fuel is non-toxic, biodegradable and has a flashpoint of 300 degrees Fahrenheit compared to diesel fuel’s flashpoint of 125 degrees Fahrenheit.

Practice GREEN habits by visiting www.tri-rail.com and registering to enter to win a FREE one-year transit pass. Tri-Rail raves that commuters can save up to $8,000 a year on gas and vehicle maintenance.

Ficus Whitefly Extermination in Broward County

Your foliage and greenery are in great danger with the recent infestation of the Ficus Whitefly. South Florida has seen huge quantities of this pesky insect in their yards. What exactly should you do if you see a Ficus Whitefly in your yard? First, hire your local exterminator. There are other steps that you can take to prevent the Ficus Whitefly from damaging your plants.

Procedure: Drench the soil around the base of the tree or hedge with a product that holds a neonicotinoid compound.

Why? When used properly,  these products should give adequate control of the whitefly for 4-8 months (or perhaps longer) depending on the size of the tree or shrub. Your local Broward County exterminators will recommend that you monitor your plants 3 months after application for the presence of live nymphs. Pesticide sprays can also be used to treat “hot spots” or get quick knockdown in addition to the soil applications. Products that can be considered for foliar applications are listed in the next section (Control in the Nursery), but it is important to only use those products that are allowed in the landscape. Also, the products (neonicotinoids) listed in the below table can used as a foliar spray but it is not recommended that you use them as both a foliar and soil application and it is the soil application that will provide the longest control.

The best way to ensure that your plants are not being invated by the Ficus Whitefly is to call your local exterminators today.

Book Design of West Palm Beach

Soul Work

Book design is the art of incorporating the content, style, format, design, and sequence of the various components of a book into a coherent whole. There are various aspects of book design, but the book cover design has 3 critical components:

Front Cover: The front cover is the front of the book, and is marked appropriately, by text and/or graphics, in order to identify it as such, namely as the very beginning of the book. The front cover usually contains at least the title and/or author, with possibly an appropriate illustration.

The Spine: The spine is the vertical edge of a book as it normally stands on a bookshelf. It is customary for it to have printed text on it.  The spine generally displays all, or some, the following elements:

  • Author, editor, or compiler
  • Title
  • Publisher
  • Publisher logo

Back Cover: The back cover generally has  biographical matter about the author or editor, and quotes from other sources praising the book. Sometimes, the back cover contains a summary or description of the the book.

Horse Grooming Reasons from South Florida Shavings

It is a matter of fact:  grooming is an extremely important aspect of owning a horse, and the proper grooming technique is essential for horses that are used in competition. How often should you groom your horse? Well, that is debatable, however most specialists recommend grooming a horse daily. You may find that this is not always possible. Whether you have a set routine or not,  regular grooming helps to ensure your favorite horse is healthy and comfortable.

Five top reasons for daily grooming include:

  • Better health for the coat and skin
  • Lower risks of various health issues (Scratches, thrush etc)
  • Cleans the horse, thus reducing areas of chafing
  • Enables the groomer to check the horse’s health
  • Ensures a healthy relationship between the horse and groomerh

Cleaning your horse’s stable (Mucking) up to three times a day also ensures that your horse is clean and happy. Using fresh pine shavings during every cleaning helps soak up urine – providing a nice clean bedding for your horse
